Free workshop for children with Down Syndrome aged 0-6 years at The Dock in Carrick-on-Shannon

By | 15th May 2023

Get your hands dirty with The Dock’s Youth Artist in Residence Jackie Maguire at this free workshop for children aged 0-6 with Down Syndrome.

Experiment with microscopes, light, drawing, and sound to investigate soil and discover the life within.

Jackie will lead the workshops with her collaborators, Soil Scientist Dr Agnieszka Piwowarczyk and Forest School Educator Trisha MacLaughlin.

This event comes as part of Jackie’s youth arts residency at The Dock, where she and her collaborators will be leading a series of workshops for children aged 6 and under.

Their work will involve researching and exploring soil as a living system to inform a future theatre production.

Participants are advised to wear comfortable clothes that they don’t mind getting dirty. Complimentary warm drinks will be provided for adults and cold drinks for children.

Jackie Maguire is a musician and artist working through music, drama, and the visual arts.

Currently, she is a Research Associate at Trinity College Dublin’s School of Education and an Early Childhood Arts Lecturer at Maynooth University, DCU, and Hibernia College.

Free admission for a child and one parent/carer.

The event takes place on Saturday, May 20, at 10.30m.

Tickets are available at www.thedock.ie or at 071 965 0828.
